Abstract

This study aims to develop a fantasy makeup design adapted from the visual characteristics of the Papuan red fruit (Pandanus conoideus) as a source of creative inspiration, and to assess the feasibility of the developed work through expert evaluation. The study employs the Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model, comprising the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. During the analysis stage, visual elements of the Papuan red fruit specifically color, shape, line, and texture were identified to serve as the foundation for the fantasy makeup design concept. The resulting product is a complete fantasy makeup ensemble including facial makeup, body painting, a costume, accessories, and a headpiece that represents the visual characteristics of the Papuan red fruit. Product feasibility was evaluated by a panel of three experts (a makeup lecturer, an artistic makeup specialist, and a facial makeup specialist) based on six criteria: visual aesthetics, elements and principles of art, the body as a medium of expression, creativity in beauty products, meaning and visual representation, and aesthetics within the beauty field. Evaluation results indicate that all indicators achieved an "excellent" rating; the highest scores were recorded in the aspects of the body as a medium of expression and meaning/visual representation (each reaching 100%), while the overall average score was 96.7%. These results demonstrate that adapting the visual characteristics of the Papuan red fruit is a viable approach for generating creative ideas to produce fantasy makeup that is innovative, aesthetically pleasing, and representative of Papuan cultural values.
