Abstract

Practical training for the 20,000 km periodic vehicle service in vocational high schools (SMK) currently faces challenges, as the job sheets used derived from industry manuals are not integrated with performance assessments. Consequently, the learning process and the evaluation of students' practical skills remain suboptimal. This study aims to examine the development process, feasibility, and effectiveness of a performance-assessment-based job sheet for the 20,000 km periodic service curriculum. The novelty of this research lies in the integration of practical work steps with performance assessment indicators within a single job sheet, allowing for a structured and measurable approach to both the execution of practical tasks and the evaluation of skills. The study employs the Research and Development (R&D) method, utilizing the 4D development model (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate). The subjects were eleventh-grade students in the Light Vehicle Engineering program at SMK Negeri 1 Katapang. Research instruments included validation sheets for media and subject matter experts, as well as a performance assessment instrument. Effectiveness was evaluated by comparing an experimental group which utilized the performance-assessment-based job sheet with a control group that used standard, conventional job sheets. Validation results indicated a feasibility score of 97.36% from media experts and 92.97% from subject matter experts, both of which fall into the "highly feasible" category. Hypothesis testing yielded a t-calculated value of 2.331, which exceeds the t-table value of 1.996 (at a 0.05 significance level). The experimental group achieved an average gain score of 19.029, compared to 10.529 for the control group. These findings demonstrate a significant difference in skill improvement between the two groups, with the experimental group showing greater progress. In practical terms, the developed job sheet serves as a valuable tool, enabling students to carry out periodic service procedures systematically while simultaneously gaining an understanding of the specific skill aspects being assessed during their practical work. Thus, the performance assessment-based job sheet is deemed highly suitable and demonstrates effectiveness in enhancing students' skills regarding the 20,000 km periodic maintenance procedure.
