Overthinking is a tendency to think excessively and repeatedly that can disrupt students' psychological condition and daily activities. Therefore, efforts are needed to help students manage this mindset, one of which is through group counseling with self-talk techniques. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of group counseling with self-talk techniques in reducing students' overthinking. This study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method and a non-equivalent control group design. The research sample consisted of 8 students who were determined using a nonprobability sampling technique and divided into an experimental group and a control group, each consisting of 4 students. The results showed a significant difference between the experimental group and the control group after being given treatment, with a significance value (sig. 2-tailed) of 0.041 (p < 0.05). The average post-test score of the experimental group was 37.25, lower than the control group at 47.50. These results indicate that the reduction in the level of overthinking in the experimental group was greater than in the control group. Thus, group counseling with self-talk techniques showed a significant and potentially effective effect in reducing students' overthinking. These findings could provide an alternative approach to developing guidance and counseling services to help students manage overthinking patterns.
