Abstract

The digestive system is a biology material that has abstract characteristics, so it often causes learning difficulties in students. One effort that can be done to improve student learning outcomes is through the use of audio-visual learning media associated with local food education. This study aims to determine the differences in learning outcomes of grade XI students after the application of audio-visual media based on local food education on the digestive system material. The study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method and a post-test only control design. The study was conducted at SMA Negeri 1 Suwawa with a sample of two classes consisting of an experimental class and a control class. Learning outcome data were collected through tests that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data were analyzed using normality, homogeneity, and independent samples t-test. The results showed that there was a significant difference between the learning outcomes of students who used audio-visual media based on local food education and students who used audio-visual media without local food education. The average score of the experimental class was 77.10, higher than the control class at 56.62. The results of the independent samples t-test showed a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, thus rejecting H₀ and accepting H₁. These findings indicate that audio-visual media based on local food education is more effective than audio-visual media without local food education in improving student learning outcomes on the digestive system.
