This study aims to determine the effect of the PQ4R learning strategy on students' memory on the topic of Ecosystem Components and Their Interactions. This study used a quasi-experimental method with a non-equivalent control group design. The research sample consisted of an experimental class and a control class, each consisting of 36 students. Data collection techniques were carried out through tests in the form of pretest, posttest I, and posttest II. The results showed that the average pretest score in the experimental class was 53.86, while in the control class it was 55.17. After the implementation of the PQ4R learning strategy, the average posttest I score in the experimental class was 95.14 and in the control class was 93.19. While the average posttest II score in the experimental class was 87.50 and in the control class was 84.56. The results of the experimental class's memory were 91.97%, while in the control class it was 90.74%. Based on hypothesis testing using the Mann-Whitney test, the significance value obtained was less than 0.05, indicating that the PQ4R learning strategy has an effect on student retention in the topic of Ecosystem Components and Their Interactions. Therefore, the PQ4R learning strategy can be used as an effective learning strategy to increase student retention.
