Pelatihan Penyuntingan Karya Tulis Ilmiah dan Pengelolaan Referensi Menggunakan Mendeley bagi Murid MA Negeri 1 Samarinda

Abstract

The ability to edit writing and manage references is an important academic skill that is still insufficiently mastered by senior high school/madrasah aliyah students, particularly in the application of spelling, punctuation, diction precision, effective sentence structure, as well as systematic citation and reference listing. This community service aims to analyze participants' perceptions regarding the clarity of basic materials on scientific paper editing and the use of the Mendeley application through a training program called NARASI (Naskah Rapi dan Sitasi). The method used was practice-based training through four main stages, including material delivery, demonstration, hands-on practice (manuscript editing and Mendeley usage), and mentoring. This activity was attended by 27 tenth-grade students and evaluated through direct observation during the training as well as a post-training questionnaire on a Guttman scale with 8 items using Yes/No response categories. The questionnaire results showed that most statements obtained a proportion of positive responses above 90%, in which all students felt they understood better how to present proper and correct writing, and 96.3% of students better understood the function of Mendeley in scientific writing, while only 11.1% of students still felt difficulty in editing and no students were confused about using Mendeley. It can be concluded that the NARASI training successfully received positive responses regarding students' understanding in editing writing and managing references using Mendeley, although a small portion of students still requires follow-up mentoring so that these skills can be applied independently and sustainably.
